2012 ART Conference Jericho Road Project

Participants in the 2012 ART conference had the chance to put their unique talents to work helping New Orleans families have a house any of us would be proud to call home. The Accessories Resource Team teamed up with a local non-profit called the Jericho Roads Organization who was already working in the area to provide houses to local families. The ART team stepped in and transformed those houses into beautifully designed, fully-furnished homes.

IMAX’s own Susan Andrulis co-chaired the conference, and to her, all of the hard work was well worth it.

“It’s something that will be with me forever,” said Andrulis. “It was an empty house when we got there, but when we finished, it felt like a place where you could just sit down, watch TV and live life. I was able to sit on the front porch with the family that will live there after we were finished. It was a really great moment - one of the proudest moments of my whole life.”

ART volunteers consisted of figures from around the gift and home industry, like Alex Fraser, of Repzio.

“Helping with the home was amazing,” said Fraser. “We had 30 or more type ‘A’ people working their butts off in 90-plus degree weather. It was great to see everybody just dig in. We saw one of the families with two little boys, and they were so excited! One wanted to water the plants in the front of ‘his’ house.”

IMAX reps Michelle Korthuis and Brian Jupina also helped with the project.

“It was a great experience working on the Jericho Road project,” said Jupina. “Michelle and I were both humbled and grateful to participate in such a worthy cause. Just knowing that we made even a small difference in someone’s life is an incredible feeling.”

Conference speakers Barry Dixon (president of the interior design firm Barry Dixon, Inc.), Mike Anderson (The Center for Sales Strategy, Inc.) and John Gidding, (host of HGTV’s Curb Appeal: The Block) were also quick to roll up their sleeves and pitch in. Gidding is shown left with Susan Andrulis and Michelle Korthuis.

InStyle: Color Trends for Every Budget

By: Connie Post
April 11, 2012

Here’s a news flash: Every woman wants to present herself in style. No one wants to look old or tired. We all strive for beauty in our own way, hoping that somehow we do not disappear with age.

What’s this got to do with the home décor business? I chose InStyle Magazine as the inspiration for this month’s newsletter because it is a great example of how the media capitalizes on consumers’ obsession with “the new, the now and the next!” I don’t think any other publication does a better job than InStyle of reminding us how cool we really are each month, or conversely, just how out of touch we have become.

Every thirty days or so I pick up an issue and am reminded on every page that we are ever-changing in our clothes, our accessories and shoes(!), and how we are seduced and captivated by details. This month, the issue is all about the eye-catching effects of color: From Calvin Klein’s vibrant orange, fuchsia and yellow jeans, to a Hugo Boss lemon-yellow dress, Diane Von Furstenberg’s bright prints to Kate Spade’s salmon-colored purses (gotta have it!).

ColorPOST in the Bahamas!

By: Connie Post
February 29, 2012

I recently returned from a trip to beautiful Nassau along with IMAX’s Amanda Djukic where we visited Bahamian retailer Furniture Plus. The three store chain is going big with ColorPOST, featuring six complete color stories in each of their stores.

Furniture Plus is an amazing retailer, and the perfect place to see the color stories in action. I was pleased to see that they were executed perfectly by the Furniture Plus team. The individual color stories not only gave a blast of energy and freshness to their retail floors, they also provided an instant store update without renovations. It was simply perfect. The customers were responding not only with curiosity but with their wallets. I love it when a plan comes together they did a fabulous job with the IMAX pods.

The staff is very excited about the new ColorPOST displays, especially Passion which they’ve placed at the front of the store. Furniture Plus focuses on red in their marketing and branding, so Passion is a perfect fit.

After seeing Furniture Plus’s amazing color story implementation, I’m more excited then ever to start seeing how other retailers around the world are using the ColorPOST collections in their stores!

The photo below features the Furniture Plus team along with Amanda and Connie in front the ColorPOST displays at the Nassau location. In order of appearance from left to right: Chantell Robinson, Troy d’Arville (owner), Amanda Djukic, Dawn Forbes, Connie Post, Christopher Cartwright, Krystynia Lee d’Arville, and Wesley Campbell.

January 10, 2012

We’re debuting our largest product introduction in our twenty-eight year history at Winter 2012 market. Over 800 new introductions span every product category in the IMAX line, including an enthusiastic revitalization of their seasonal category. This, in addition to great new trends, the ever-popular ColorPOST by Connie program, designer exclusives and more make the IMAX showroom a must-see destination.

With the sweet accent of its namesake, magnolia blossoms, this trend combines preppy textures and patterns with accessories of warm, iconic shapes and functions – from tiered cake stands to elegant glass vases, decorative storage, wall décor and much more. Glory Days finds mid-century inspired nostalgic style in vintage, masculine accessories for home or office. With muted color and aged-finish sports memorabilia accents, this trend is sure to hit a home run. Serenity holds true to its name with a tranquil, zen-inspired style. Natural elements, water features, soft colors and textures bring a peaceful touch to any setting.
